Philosophy of Freedom
Weekend Intensive

June 2008

Dear friends of Think OutWord,

Last weekend something that I think is pretty heroic happened. 12 members of Think OutWord - all local to the Great Barrington area - came together at the E.F. Schumacher library for an intensive weekend on Steiner's Philosophy of Freedom. For those of you who haven't read it, you should know that it's not exactly light reading - it's downright labyrinthine. I was a philosophy major and it's by far one of the chewiest philosophical texts I've ever come across. And here are 12 people, many of whom have never read philosophy or Steiner, sitting down for 14 hours over 2 days to go through that book chapter by chapter, thought by thought. That's badass no matter what book it is! 7 hours a day in the heat. And we stuck with it! It was awesome and superbly intense and all I wanted to do afterwards was space out and watch movies for eva'…

But no luck. We've got a benefit dinner next Friday, June 20, so we've been racing around, gathering up donations and selling tickets like crazy. It would be really great if any of you could make it, anyone who's in this area…It's going to be a great night, 3 course meal, entertainment, all sorts of local goods being auctioned off for discount prices. And it all supports 18 Think OutWorders traveling up to RSI in a months time to work with Nicanor. He's a life-changing individual. If you can make it tickets are only 20 bucks – just email me back and I'll put you on the list.

Last thing. We sent out our fundraising letter about a month ago. If you didn't get it but are interested in reading it (it does a pretty good job at synopsizing in accessible language what we're trying to do) then you'll find it attached.

Alright, hope to hear from many of you regarding the fundraising dinner.

Thanks for the support,

Seth Jordan
